If you’re just here for a quick layover or visa run, you’re about to make a big mistake. Kuala Lumpur has so much to offer that you’ll wish you’d booked more nights the moment you arrive.
So the fact that you’ve landed on this article tells me you’re already thinking about staying a bit longer. Good. I promise you won’t regret this decision.
At 452 metres tall, the Petronas Towers are one of the most recognisable skylines in the world. Waking up to those gigantic twin towers from your hotel room feels completely different from “just” seeing it from the street or one of KL’s rooftop bars at sunset (though that’s still pretty epic too).
Whatever your budget, this post covers exactly where to stay in Kuala Lumpur for the best Petronas Towers views, from the city’s most luxurious hotels and serviced apartments, to budget hostels.
Pssst: Many come with an infinity rooftop pool, a rooftop bar, or both!

Where to Stay Near Petronas Towers?
In my personal opinion, the best areas to stay in Kuala Lumpur are KLCC, Bukit Bintang, and Chinatown. And conveniently, sticking to one of these three will also make it really easy to follow my 3-day Kuala Lumpur itinerary:
- If you’re a first-time visitor and want to stay as close as possible to the Petronas Twin Towers, stay in the KLCC (Kuala Lumpur City Centre) area. You’re right in the middle of all the shopping malls, urban parks, restaurants, and entertainment, and most of the luxury hotels and serviced apartments are located in this area, too.
- Bukit Bintang has the coolest vibes of the three, and it puts you close to Jalan Alor Night Market, where you’ll find the best street food!
- If you’re on a tighter budget, stay in Chinatown. You can find cheap shopping around Petaling Street, REXKL, tasty Chinese street food, and very affordable accommodation!
Of course, just because you’re staying central doesn’t automatically mean you have guaranteed Petronas Towers views, but your chances are pretty good!

Plan your Kuala Lumpur City Break:
Best KLCC Hotels with Petronas Towers Views
Kuala Lumpur is one of those rare cities where you can treat yourself to a luxurious hotel stay without the scary price tag. Play around with the dates, and you can spend the night in a five-star hotel for under $150 USD! So why wouldn’t you treat yourself to at least one night of luxury?
Obviously, if you’re backpacking on a tight budget, skip this part and scroll down for more affordable options. But if you’re ready to splurge a little, these are my top picks for luxury hotels with Petronas Towers views:

$$$ Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur — Best Luxury Stay in Kuala Lumpur
Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur is, without a doubt, one of the best 5-star hotels in the city, sitting right on the border of KLCC and Bukit Bintang, so you get the best of both neighbourhoods. Obviously, we didn’t stay here during our career break (the budget was a little tight!), but it’s definitely on the list for a shorter trip to Malaysia!
The rooms are stunning, and if you stay in the Sky or Sanctuary Suite, you’ll wake up to floor-to-ceiling views of the Petronas Towers. Finally, a hotel where ordering breakfast in bed makes total sense. Oh, and did I mention the freestanding bathtub with Petronas Towers views?! I need this in my life.
But even if you’re not staying in a suite, the rooftop more than makes up for it. Vertigo TOO is on the 60th floor and is one of the highest open-air rooftop bars in the city. Sundowners here at golden hour, with the Petronas Towers, KL Tower, and the entire city skyline spread out in front of you, must be insane!!
There’s also a rooftop pool with tower views, an award-winning spa, and a 24-hour gym.
$$$ W Kuala Lumpur — Best Rooftop Pool with a View of the Petronas Towers
W Kuala Lumpur is about as close as you can get to the Petronas Towers, just a 5-minute walk away.
The vibe here is hip, playful, and it genuinely looks like such a fun place to check into! It’s still a 5-star hotel, but it feels much more vibrant and effortlessly cool than some of the more traditional luxury hotels in KL.
The rooms come fitted with a Bluetooth soundbar (love that feature!), a Nespresso coffee machine, and flat-screen TVs. But with views like these, you probably won’t be watching much TV.
When you jump into their rooftop infinity pool, the Twin Towers are right there in front of you. There’s also a rooftop cocktail bar and a South African Grill up there, so you could easily spend an entire afternoon up there.
🎟️🏊 Nat’s Tip: You don’t need to stay here to enjoy the pool. Pool day passes are only MYR 50 (~$12 USD)!
As a guest, you’re also entitled to their 24-hour Whatever/Whenever service, which basically means you can request whatever you want, whenever you want. I have so many questions about what people actually ask for!
$$$ Traders Hotel Kuala Lumpur — Best Hotel Bar with Petronas Towers Views
Traders Hotel has been a favourite on the KL hotel scene for years, and after a recent refurbishment, the rooms look better than ever. Modern interiors and all the comfort you’d expect from a well-established five-star hotel.
It’s based just opposite the Petronas Twin Towers and offers a free buggy service to Suria KLCC.
One of Traders’ USPs is definitely the SkyBar, which is consistently ranked among the best rooftop bars in Kuala Lumpur with unobstructed views of the towers (totally worth it even if you’re not staying here).
Beyond the bar, there’s an indoor pool and a gym, where you can do a workout with the Petronas Towers right in front of you. You’ll have to find out for yourself if that’s motivating or distracting. 😉
Best Apartments & Hostels with Petronas Towers Views
There are plenty of high-rise apartments around KLCC with skyline views. If you’re a digital nomad or long-term traveller who wants a bit more space and independence (at a fraction of what a hotel charges for the same square metres!), this is one of the best ways to experience the city.
We stayed at Mercu Summer Suites right in the heart of KL during our last visit (no Petronas Towers views, unfortunately!), and after four months of backpacking through Southeast Asia, it felt like such a treat.
We had a whole apartment to ourselves, cooked breakfast, went up to the gym and jumped in the rooftop pool with city views after. I even got excited about doing laundry like normal humans again, can you imagine, lol!
📢 Quick tip: A pretty listing with a 9.0 rating on Booking.com sounds great until you notice it only has 8 reviews. Always read the reviews carefully before you book. Photos lie, guests don’t!
$$ Ascott Star KLCC Kuala Lumpur — Best Serviced Apartment in Kuala Lumpur
Ascott Star KLCC Kuala Lumpur is one of the serviced apartments in KL that is 100% worth your money. Just a quick look at their photos and reviews on Booking.com and you’ll see why.
The rooftop infinity pool on the 57th floor alone is worth the stay. You’re literally swimming towards the Petronas Towers, with Merdeka 118 and Menara KL Tower in the distance.
Their stylish studios, one-and two-bedroom apartments all come with a fully equipped kitchenette, en-suite bathroom with free toiletries, air conditioning, flat-screen TV, washing machine, and a desk so you can get some work done. It’s only an 8-minute walk from the Petronas Towers, too.
There’s also a restaurant and bar on site, a gym, a kids’ swimming pool and playground, and they welcome pets!
$$ Eaton Residence KLCC — Best Apartment with Sunset Rooftop Pool Views of Petronas Towers
The apartment complex sits in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, just a 10-minute walk to KLCC Park and 18 minutes to the Petronas Towers.
What makes Eaton Residence KLCC stand out is its award-winning, cantilevered infinity pool. It’s on the 51st floor, and the sunset views over the KL city skyline and Petronas Towers from up here are something else!
The modern one- and two-bedroom apartments are spacious and come with everything you need: A/C, ensuite bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a flat-screen TV, a washing machine, the works.
And when you’ve had enough of the pool, there’s also a gym, sauna, hot tub, spa and wellness centre on site.
$ Poshpack Skyline Hostel — Best Hostel in KL for Flashpackers
Back in 2015, I spent six weeks backpacking through Malaysia, and stayed in a pretty cool hostel in Kuala Lumpur with a rooftop bar and insane views of KL Tower. Sadly, it’s long gone, but if I were backpacking again tomorrow and wanted skyline views without blowing the budget, this is where I’d be booking (yes, even in my mid-30s!):
Poshpack Skyline Hostel opened in February 2026 and, sitting on the 38th floor, they’re marketing themselves as a “Penthouse Experience on a Backpacker Budget”. From the looks of it, they do deliver.
You get views of the Petronas Towers (a 10-minute walk away), Menara KL Tower, and Merdeka 118. The owner is also getting a lot of love in the reviews, which is always a good sign.
Bunks come with 10″ orthopaedic mattresses (the thought of not waking up with a dodgy back sounds very convincing), there’s pool and gym access (pretty unheard of for a hostel, if you ask me), and they provide free filtered drinking water (which makes my sustainability-obsessed German heart very happy!).
So yeah, if you find the catch, let me know!
$ The View 34 & Infinity Pool — Best Budget Hostel with KL City Views
Another solid budget choice for backpackers in Kuala Lumpur. The View 34 & Infinity Pool is a little further out (almost 3km from the Petronas Towers), but you get some of the best views over the city and Twin Towers from their sky lounge and balcony.
There’s also an infinity pool on the 37th floor, but it’s shared with the rest of the building complex.
Within the building, you’ve got a mini market, café, fitness centre, and library, so you really do have everything you need. Accommodation-wise, you can choose between mixed dorms (4-8 beds) or double rooms, some with private bathrooms and city views.
It’s not as new and polished as Poshpack Skyline, and a lot of the reviews mention that it feels a little dated and could be cleaner. Oh, and apparently, cats are roaming around the hostel, which is either a lovely bonus or a dealbreaker depending on whether you have allergies.
How to Get from Kuala Lumpur Airport to the City Centre
I know it’s one of those easy-to-forget things, but sorting out how you’ll get from the airport to the city centre before you travel will save you a headache when you land!
The last thing you want after a long flight is getting into an argument with your partner about how to get to your accommodation. We’ve been there ourselves.
We took a tuk-tuk to the wrong hostel in a completely different part of the city when we landed in Bangkok after a 12h flight at the start of our Southeast Asia career break, and it was not fun (I take full credit for that one!!) 😵💫🙈
A lot has changed since my first visit to Kuala Lumpur in 2015. Back then, I took the high-speed train; by 2024, it was just easier to jump in a Grab! So, here are your two best options to get to the KL city centre from the airport:
- The KLIA Ekspres is the high-speed train that takes you from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to KL Sentral in about 30 minutes and costs 55 Malaysian Ringgit (~$14 USD) per person. The catch is that KL Sentral isn’t quite as central as it sounds, so you’d still need to switch to the MRT, LRT, or grab a Grab to get to your accommodation.
- Speaking of which: if there are two of you travelling together, a Grab (Southeast Asia’s answer to Uber) often works out cheaper than the train once you split the cost, and it drops you straight where you need to be. But keep in mind that it can also take much longer than the train if you hit rush-hour traffic!

Final Thoughts: Where to Stay in Kuala Lumpur for Petronas Towers Views
If this post has convinced you of one thing, I hope it’s this: KL delivers at every price point, and you don’t have to compromise on Petronas Towers views!
You can splurge on a five-star hotel with a rooftop pool for less than a mid-range room in Singapore, make yourself at home in a serviced apartment with your own kitchen, or grab a hostel bunk for next to nothing (rooftop views still included).
Apart from Siem Reap, Kuala Lumpur is one of the best cities in Southeast Asia to treat yourself to a bit of luxury (and your wallet won’t be too upset about it either).
I’d say: book those extra nights in KL! And if you do, don’t forget to check out my 3-day itinerary for Kuala Lumpur!
Which of these did you end up booking, and were the Petronas Towers views as epic as you’d hoped?
